Four civilians have been killed and 17 injured, including a 10-year-old boy, in Ukrainian attacks across Belgorod, Kaluga regions, and areas near Moscow, local officials reported Friday. The fatalities were concentrated in Belgorod Region and close to Moscow, with nine people wounded in a drone strike on Kaluga Region.
In Belgorod, emergency services said two individuals died and four were injured during overnight shelling of the Razumnoye settlement. A projectile struck a private home, killing a married couple inside. Four others were affected by the shelling, including a family of three: the father sustained blast injuries to his back and shoulder, while his wife and 10-year-old son suffered suspected blast injuries. The woman and child were taken to medical facilities in Belgorod for examination; a fourth victim, a woman with shrapnel wounds to her head and shoulder, received on-site treatment but declined hospitalization.
A separate drone strike in Grayvoron, a border town near Moscow, killed one person and injured three others Thursday night. Two victims suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to their backs, while another had scalp injuries. All were treated at Grayvoron’s central district hospital.
Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha reported nine people injured in an overnight drone attack that damaged infrastructure and homes, noting Russian air defenses shot down 26 drones across the region. In Podolsk, just south of Moscow, a Ukrainian drone strike killed a 57-year-old man and injured a 37-year-old woman on Thursday, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. Three cars caught fire and windows were shattered in a nearby apartment building.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its forces intercepted and destroyed 505 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones nationwide overnight, including in border regions, central Russia, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas. Earlier this week, Russian Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik reported 29 civilians, including two children, killed and 206 injured in Ukrainian strikes between September 28 and October 4. Moscow has condemned all such attacks as terrorism.
