Anti-ICE agitators stormed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, Illinois, on Friday morning, chanting offensive slurs. Approximately 100 demonstrators gathered outside the processing center to disrupt operations, with tensions escalating around 7:30 a.m. when agents approached a road blocked by the group. Rioters confronted ICE vehicles, blocking and assaulting them as they entered and exited the facility. Federal agents in riot gear responded by firing pepper balls and tear gas, forcing the crowd to retreat. The agitators later regrouped at another entrance, where agents again used force, including pepper balls, to disperse them. Several protesters were tackled and arrested, with one individual found in possession of a firearm.

The incident followed a recent attack in Dallas, Texas, where an anti-ICE agitator shot at an ICE vehicle, killing a detainee and injuring two others. ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz” has led to over 200 arrests targeting individuals with criminal records in the Chicago area. Anti-ICE activists have staged weekly protests at the facility since the operation began, blocking vehicles, throwing rocks, setting off fireworks, and slashing tires. Earlier this week, footage surfaced showing agitators damaging an ICE vehicle’s tires.

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced plans to deploy Department of Justice agents to protect federal personnel and property, vowing to arrest those involved in “federal crimes.” She emphasized the DOJ’s commitment to pursuing severe charges, including conspiracy and terrorism offenses, against participants in the violent demonstrations. The unrest occurred amid broader tensions over immigration enforcement policies.
