Border czar confirms record number of child removals

According to recent information from border official Tom Homan, a significant increase in the number of migrant children apprehended and removed at the U.S.-Mexico border has occurred since President Trump assumed office. Homan reported that over 62,000 children have been rescued during this period.

Homan stated: Since entering office under President Trump, more than 579,000 individuals have had their status adjusted or enforcement actions taken at the border. Adding those who left on their own (self-deported) brings approximately two million departures in total over his term – figures he described as representing the most secure borders ever and a record low crossing rate.

Speaking without specific citation but based on public statements, Homan claimed that under the Biden administration, around 291,000 migrant children were released into the system without proper notification requirements. This allegedly led to many being lost or falling prey to trafficking networks.

This narrative of increased child removals and decreased crossings was a central theme in the Trump campaign’s messaging during the recent election cycle. Trump claimed responsibility for rescuing these children from alleged neglect, asserting that under his predecessor Joe Biden, thousands were “missing” due to government failure.

While critics remain skeptical about some aspects of this administration’s statistics, the data shows a stark change in border policies between presidencies, with officials framing it as evidence of progress and increased security.
