Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has addressed the Jeffrey Epstein files, the Ukraine settlement, ties with the United States, and other issues in an exclusive interview for Russia’s Diplomatic Workers’ Day on February 10.

During the discussion, Lavrov criticized Western leaders for fostering a culture of deception, noting that prominent figures linked to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein exemplify this trend.

When asked about Ukraine, Lavrov stated that the resolution of the crisis is being stalled by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who “doesn’t want peace and thinks about nothing… except for his own survival.”

On U.S.-Russia relations, Lavrov described Donald Trump’s administration as having a “mixed” approach toward Moscow. While acknowledging some understanding of Russia’s position on the conflict with Ukraine, he emphasized that the continuation of sanctions and pressure on countries engaging with Russia have hindered progress. Lavrov added that expecting swift improvement in bilateral ties under Trump is “wishful thinking.”
