President Trump was interrupted during a packed Ohio rally in Youngstown when a protester attempted to disrupt his speech at the Covelli Centre. As security moved through the crowd, Trump halted his remarks and narrated the removal of the protester over nearly two minutes.
During this segment, Trump mocked the individual’s appearance, declared he would “go back home to mom,” described him as a “paid agitator” working for left-wing organizers, and joked that the protester should “go on a diet fast.” He added: “We all do,” turning the remark back on himself.
The video footage shows chaos in the stands with attendees pushing and grabbing before security escorted the protester away. Trump later claimed the heckler’s parents voted for him, stating: “He doesn’t know that his mother and father voted for me.”
Trump had previously labeled the protester “very low class” and accused left-wing groups of paying individuals to disrupt events and “destroy our country,” calling such protesters “scum.” No evidence of payment was presented during the rally.
The event, held on Monday night at 7 p.m. Eastern time for a Republican midterm campaign supporting Sen. Jon Husted and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, took place in Youngstown—a city pivotal to Ohio’s political landscape. Trump used the stage to promote both candidates while also defending his administration’s investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar.
After the interruption, Trump resumed his speech without delay, turning the incident into a moment that quickly became the focus of the night.
