A Marxist Twitch influencer turned up outside the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, New Jersey, where far-left agitators have spent days trying to disrupt federal immigration enforcement. During his impromptu appearance, Hasan Piker defended figures in a pro-China activist network funded by American Marxist tech millionaire Neville Roy Singham as “wonderful people,” claiming that scrutiny around the money is overblown.

Reports indicate that Singham has poured $285 million into nonprofits since 2017 that have organized and coordinated anti-American street protests. These efforts include recent demonstrations against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in cities such as Minneapolis, New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

The Trump administration has expanded federal scrutiny of activists and organizations linked to travel to communist Cuba and to the Singham and CodePink funding pipeline. Federal authorities have also sent a subpoena to Piker and CodePink as part of an investigation into a March convoy to Cuba.

Piker emphasized that the network is “totally above board and totally legal.” The activist, who has millions of followers across Twitch, YouTube, and social media platforms, regularly mobilizes support for candidates aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America. During his appearance in Newark, he wore a baseball cap emblazoned with the group’s logo.

When pressed on the origins of the network’s funding, Piker stated: “I don’t have any personal contact with Roy Singham or any of these other people. I mean, I know some of these people. They’re wonderful people in general. They’re activists… None of it is actually hidden or illegal in any way.”
