Retired Army veteran Vanesa McCaskell has claimed a record-setting victory on daytime game show “The Price Is Right,” securing $227,500 in cash and a trip to Morocco valued at $12,650. Her win surpassed the previous single pricing-game record of $210,000—held by Christen Freeman during a 2016 episode of “Cliff Hangers.”

McCaskell described her experience as surreal: “From ‘Come on Down’ to playing ‘The Lion’s Share,’ it all felt so surreal – a dream moment that only kept getting bigger,” she said. “I was nervous, excited and everything at once. Winning over $200,000 is life changing. I plan to invest wisely, enjoy a little and treat my mom to a special surprise.”

“The Lion’s Share,” introduced in September 2025 as part of the show’s 54th season, allows contestants to win up to $500,000 through a game where they guess grocery item prices. Contestants earn balls dropped into a wind-tunnel chamber to reveal prize amounts; they must decide whether to walk away with their winnings or risk drawing a “lose it all” ball.

During the Mother’s Day-themed episode, McCaskell celebrated her win by hugging host Drew Carey and was seen emotionally reacting after securing the Moroccan vacation. Her daughter was observed happily applauding the victory. Carey praised McCaskell’s achievement with: “Vanesa, nice job. That’s amazing. Happy retirement.” He later noted that her win had been historic.
