The White House has posted an unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP) video file from 2013 as part of a new government transparency initiative. The document, labeled DOW-UAP-PR38, was shared on the official White House social media account and describes footage captured by an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in the Middle East.
The one-minute and forty-six-second clip shows an area of contrast that officials describe as resembling an eight-pointed star with arms of alternating length. The government has stated it cannot explain what the object represents.
This file is part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), which the Department of War launched on May 8, 2026. PURSUE was directed by President Donald Trump to identify and declassify UAP-related files for public access.
According to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), United States Central Command submitted the report in 2013 to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office. The video, captured using infrared sensors, shows an object that moves within the field of view and exits the screen multiple times before reappearing. No verbal or written description was provided by the reporter.
The Department of War notes this file remains unresolved and has not been analyzed for final resolution. The initiative allows Americans to access declassified UAP videos, photos, and documents without requiring security clearance. However, officials emphasize that many materials have not yet been analyzed.
DVIDS describes the DOW-UAP-PR38 file as informational only and cautions against drawing conclusions about the event’s nature or significance. The government has repeatedly stated such objects could be natural phenomena, sensor artifacts, or unknown technology. This release marks the first time a U.S. military platform’s infrared footage from 2013 has been publicly shared in an unclassified manner. Additional files are scheduled for rolling release under PURSUE.
