President Donald Trump, along with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., announced at a press conference that taking Tylenol during pregnancy may increase the risk of autism in unborn children. Trump stated that the drug “can be associated with a very increased risk of autism” and advised women to limit its use unless medically necessary. The administration also highlighted plans for a research initiative to investigate autism’s causes, calling it a “horrible, horrible crisis.”

RFK Jr. attributed the rise in autism cases to environmental factors, while the White House emphasized addressing root causes of chronic conditions. Tylenol manufacturer Kenvue, Inc. saw its stock drop 7% following the announcement. Trump also mentioned vaccines’ potential role, noting that RFK Jr. must be cautious in his statements. The FDA later announced increased access to Leucovorin as a treatment for some autism symptoms, citing studies on folate pathway issues.

The press conference included questions about the American College of OBGYN’s previous stance on Tylenol’s safety, with Trump dismissing concerns. Additional announcements are expected in the coming years, according to RFK Jr.
