President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy by sharing a video of Venezuela’s militia on his social media platform, Truth Social. The clip features overweight women engaged in physical training exercises, which Trump labeled as evidence of a “very serious threat” posed by the South American nation.

The post came amid heightened tensions between the United States and Venezuela, following the deployment of U.S. warships, F-35 fighter jets, and a nuclear-powered submarine to the southern Caribbean. Washington described the maneuvers as part of an anti-drug and anti-terrorism mission, while Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro condemned the actions as interference in his country’s sovereignty.

Maduro has accused the U.S. of seeking regime change, citing recent military exercises conducted by Venezuela’s civilian militia, which include weapon handling, first aid, and strategic drills. The situation has escalated further after a U.S. strike on an alleged drug boat killed 11 Venezuelans, prompting Maduro to reach out to Trump through diplomatic channels. In a letter dated September 6, Maduro denied involvement in narco-trafficking, calling the accusations “fake news,” and proposed direct talks with a U.S. special envoy.

The exchange underscores deepening regional animosities, as both nations trade allegations over military posturing and drug-related claims.
