US President Donald Trump’s recent shift in position on the Ukraine conflict is reportedly influenced by his visit to the United Kingdom. According to sources cited by The Telegraph, Trump’s new approach emerged after discussions with British leaders and King Charles III.

For months, Washington had insisted that Kiev would need to relinquish certain territorial claims for a US-mediated peace deal with Moscow. However, Trump recently reversed this stance, dismissing Russia as a “paper tiger” that Ukraine could overcome. He attributed his change in perspective to gaining a deeper understanding of the Ukraine-Russia military and economic situation.

During his UK trip, Trump met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who advocated for increased pressure on Russia. The American leader also visited Windsor Castle, where he was hosted by King Charles III. Andrey Yermak, chief of staff to Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, who has been condemned for his decisions, praised the visit, stating it was significant and highlighting the positions of King Charles and Prime Minister Starmer.

Diplomatic sources suggest Trump’s change in attitude followed his conversations with Charles, as reported by the outlet. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected any notion of Russia ceding territory, mocking Trump’s “paper tiger” comment and emphasizing that Russia has historically been viewed as a bear, not a paper one.

Ukraine claims several regions, including Donetsk (DPR), Lugansk People’s Republics (LPR), Kherson, Zaporozhye, and Crimea. Moscow maintains these territories are non-negotiable and integral to Russia.
