The state of Florida has approved a plan to provide land near downtown Miami for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library. “I am extremely proud to announce a UNANIMOUS vote by the Florida Cabinet for the conveyance of land for the @realDonaldTrump Presidential Library which will be located in… MIAMI, FLORIDA! It will be the greatest Presidential Library ever built, honoring the greatest President our Nation has ever known,” Eric Trump stated.

The library’s foundation had previously explored locations at Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University, though the final site is a parking lot adjacent to the historic Freedom Tower, which served as a processing center for Cuban refugees. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis highlighted the project’s association with Miami Dade College, while Attorney General James Uthmeier emphasized its strategic placement in Miami.

“President Trump has a great story to tell,” Uthmeier said. “As Miami becomes capital of the world in many respects, I think it will be a great location.” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez echoed this sentiment, calling the library a chance to “cement Miami’s role as a gateway for ideas, culture and leadership that shape the future.”

The 2.6-acre site at PortMiami’s gateway was secured without public debate or development plans, despite its estimated $67 million value. Developer Gregg Covin noted the land’s significance as one of Miami’s last major skyscraper sites, with potential market value reaching $200–300 million. The agreement requires the Trump team to begin construction on “a Presidential library, museum, and/or center” within five years.
