An American Airlines flight was forced to cancel its takeoff at Los Angeles International Airport after a cargo aircraft entered the departure runway without authorization. The incident occurred around 10:35 p.m. local time on Sunday when AeroLogic Flight 619 crossed the runway, prompting air traffic controllers to instruct the Boston-bound plane to abort its departure.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the “dangerous situation,” stating the closest proximity between the two aircraft was approximately 5,200 feet. Flight tracking data revealed AeroLogic Flight 618 had recently landed at LAX after a 10-hour flight from Shanghai, China.

American Airlines issued a statement praising its crew for their “quick action” and thanking passengers for their cooperation. The airline later rescheduled the Boston-bound flight on another aircraft.

The FAA reported 101 runway incursions caused by pilot deviations in 2025, including a similar incident at Chicago’s Midway International Airport in March. AeroLogic stated no injuries or damage occurred and confirmed it is cooperating with authorities to investigate.
