Despite years of public acrimony, President Donald Trump and his former attorney Michael Cohen buried the hatchet in a new interview set to air on Cohen’s WABC radio show this Sunday.

In preview excerpts, the president addressed Cohen’s legal troubles and decision to testify against him in a 2024 trial. “They weaponized government against you and against others, Michael,” Trump said. “There were plenty of others too, and it’s a disgrace.” He added, “I think it’s so amazing that you came out, and you told the story, and people respect you for doing it.”

The two men have had a contentious relationship since Cohen’s 2018 guilty plea in Manhattan federal court to eight criminal counts related to a payment scheme created to silence women who claimed to have affairs with Trump. Cohen later became a key witness in Trump’s New York hush money trial, where the president was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records connected to payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

The full interview is scheduled for Sunday at 5 p.m. ET on Cohen’s radio program “When You Know, You Know.” During the discussion, Trump spoke in a style reminiscent of his campaign rallies, praising the Iran war, criticizing Democrats, and highlighting his economic policies.

Cohen, who worked for Trump from 2006 through the 2016 election, stated he did not want their conflict to define his life. “The good memories don’t cease to exist simply because terrible ones followed them,” he said. “True loyalty doesn’t mean pretending that you were never hurt.”

The interview marks a significant moment in the relationship between the president and his former personal lawyer.
