Calls have intensified for Democrat Virginia Attorney General nominee Jay Jones to withdraw from the race after explicit messages surfaced suggesting violent fantasies involving a Republican legislator and his family.

President Trump publicly urged Jones to step down, endorsing Republican rival Jason Miyares in a post on Truth Social. He criticized Democrats for failing to condemn Jones’ alleged remarks, which reportedly included threats against then-GOP House Speaker Todd Gilbert, his wife, and two children.

Trump stated: “Jay Jones, a Radical Left Lunatic, has made SICK and DEMENTED jokes… concerning the murdering of a Republican Legislator, his wife, and their children. Democrats are saying it is ‘RESIGNATION FROM CAMPAIGN’ TERRITORY. Jay Jones should drop out immediately.” He emphasized his support for Miyares, claiming he would “never let you down.”

Vice President JD Vance also urged Democrats to demand Jones’ resignation, highlighting the lack of accountability from within the party. Democrat Abigail Spanberger, a gubernatorial candidate, faced scrutiny for her silence on the matter.

Republican Winsome Earle-Sears condemned the allegations, while the controversy underscores deepening divisions in Virginia’s political landscape.
