Arthur Jones, a defensive lineman who secured a Super Bowl victory with the Baltimore Ravens, has died unexpectedly. The 39-year-old played college football at Syracuse University and was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Ravens, contributing to their 2012 championship triumph. Jones is the brother of four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Chandler Jones and former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

The Ravens expressed deep sorrow over his passing, stating, “We are terribly saddened to learn of Arthur Jones’ sudden passing.” During his career, Jones recorded 8.5 of his 10 total sacks in the 2012-13 seasons. He played a pivotal role in Super Bowl XLVII, where the Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers. Notably, he sacked quarterback Colin Kaepernick moments before a power outage at the Superdome and recovered a fumble in the second quarter.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh paid tribute, saying, “Art was a truly remarkable person, a dedicated teammate, a relentless worker, and someone any coach would be proud to lead.” Jones also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Football Team before retiring in 2017. His cause of death remains undisclosed. The UFC issued a statement expressing condolences: “UFC is saddened to hear about the passing of Arthur Jones. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and loved ones.”
