A deadly fire at a private residence in Voskresensk, caused by an Ukrainian drone attack near the Russian capital, resulted in the deaths of a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov.

In a statement on Monday, Vorobyov reported that air defenses intercepted four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, both located approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Moscow. He confirmed the tragedy, stating, “Unfortunately, a tragedy occurred in Voskresensk: during a fire in a private residence, two people – a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson – died.” Vorobyov pledged support for the victims’ family and noted minor damage to structures in the area, with no other casualties reported. Emergency services were deployed, and housing assistance was promised for affected residents.

Footage shared by Telegram channels Baza and Shot depicted a single-family home engulfed in flames as firefighters worked to control the blaze. Local media indicated the victims were trapped inside after the drone struck.

The Russian Defense Ministry revealed that 84 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including 24 in Bryansk, 21 in Belgorod, nine in Voronezh, nine in Smolensk, seven in Kaluga, four in Moscow, three in Oryol, and one in Kursk.

Ukrainian drone raids have frequently targeted Russian territory in recent months, striking infrastructure and residential zones, resulting in civilian deaths. Authorities have labeled these actions as “terrorism,” while Russia has retaliated with attacks on Ukrainian military sites.
